Ultra modern earrings

Just posted today - one for each shop.

First is this ultra modern earring in carnelian and Argentium sterling silver.

Second is this similar pair featuring a bit more wrapping and smoky quartz paired with aquamarine.

They're both $20 and are sort of Star Trek-ish. Beam yourself up a pair today!

  1. Very pretty...I like the coiled wire on them.

  2. Love them both! I too like the coiled wire :-).

A little post about branding

Branding is important. Having a consistent look and feel to your work, your identity as an artist and in how you present your work is part of having your own business. It can be a little tough, but once you've got your logo and colors and associated motifs, that's enough, right?

Lately I've been trying to develop a routine with my business - to do at least one thing a day to promote or create or interact with other people in craft or home businesses.

The other day I decided to work on packaging since what I had was running low and I wanted something more distinctive. That led me down a tangent, let me tell you! Part of what I need are stickers and while looking at my current logo documents, I did a bit of a refresh. Nothing too drastic, but definitely an improvement. Check it out!

What is good design?

People have been asking this since...I don't know...forever?

And it isn't a universally accepted standard, but I'd like to post about things I love and designs I admire. So because I'm a reader and it's the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, I'll begin with SP Books' inspired cover of her original manuscript -

I think it's brilliant because it's understated. It's restrained. Many Frankenstein covers are garish and shocking, but this one is subtle and subtly painful.
Just that. ~~~ shivery! ~~~

Creating the right mindset for creativity and productivity!

So you’ve decided to open up a small business and you’re going to work out of your house. How many people have laughed and said you could work in your pajamas? Whenever someone has said this to me I always ask if they work in their pajamas. Seriously. It’s a stupid thing to say. Even when I worked a corporate job from home I got this kind of flack.

People say dress for the job you want to have. You want to be a successful business owner, right? An entrepreneur. A creative genius. A leader in your field. Dress for that. Dress like you’re giving someone a studio tour and they’re bringing their checkbook!

It doesn’t have to be a suit and heels or anything, but I believe it’s important to separate your work time from your leisure time as distinctly as possible. Most of us have our work space separated - a studio, workshop or office. I don’t work in bed or on the couch, why should I dress like I do? Even if you’re hiding behind a computer and never see anyone except the UPS man, you should…
