Whenever someone has said this to me I always ask if they work in their pajamas. Seriously. It’s a stupid thing to say. Even when I worked a corporate job from home I got this kind of flack. People say dress for the job you want to have. You want to be a successful business owner, right? An entrepreneur. A creative genius. A leader in your field. Dress for that. Dress like you’re giving someone a studio tour and they’re bringing their checkbook! It doesn’t have to be a suit and heels or anything, but I believe it’s important to separate your work time from your leisure time as distinctly as possible.
